WASHINGTON STATE LEGISLATURE PASSES HB 1087 “MAKING 2011-2013 OPERATING APPROPRIATIONS” BILL

WA. STATE LEGISLATURE "STICKS IT TO" THE CITIZENS IN FAVOR OF THE TRIBES

The Wa. State Legislature (BOTH GOP AND DEMS) has passed HR 1087, Making 2011-2013 Operating Appropriations“.   In doing so, they put aside HR 2044 which would have ended the Tribal monopoly on slot machines in Wa. State.  By doing so, it is as plain as the nose on your face, the Legislature (and Governor) are protecting the tribes interests.  By doing so, they turned their nose up at an estimated $1,906,204,486, yes, that is billions of dollars in increased state revenues from 2011 thru 2017, that would have been generated by the 35% tax on the slot proceeds.  The favoritism, nepotism and just plain preferential treatment being displayed by these politicians is appalling.  This “cronyism” must not be allowed to go un-noticed.  By doing this, the Legislature has also cut the amount of revenues each city where the private casinos are in, will get.  In this economic environment I can see more lay-offs coming down the pike.  To say I am ashamed of the Wa. State Legislature is an extraordinary understatement.  So, what do we do now?  Well, every time there is some sort of pullback on ANY state or  local service or there are layoffs, I urge all to call your District Representatives and give them an earful.  To put it very succinctly, these people put the tribes above the citizens of this state.  I for one cannot condone that in any way, shape, or form.  This “dirty politics/business as usual” attitude is what has gotten us in this terrible economic condition we find ourselves in now.  The politicians must be held accountable.  Especially those beholding to the tribes, like the Governor….. I don’t understand how they can turn their nose up at that much money,……..unless there is an agenda……somewhere……..Hmmmmmm
