(UPDATED 102711) LETTER TO MY WA. STATE REPS BENTON, HARRIS AND PROBST REGARDING HR 2044

WHY SHOULD THE WASHINGTON STATE TRIBES HAVE A MONOPOLY ON SLOTS AND WHY IS GOVERNOR GREGOIRE PROTECTING THEM?

Before you and the rest of the Washington State Legislature think about raising taxes and cutting services, you need to pass HR2044.  I know how much money this HR would bring into the state coffers and your action or inaction on this Bill will prove to your constituency whether you are serious about reducing the deficit, or just punishing your constituents with your shortsightedness on this issue by raising taxes and cutting essential services.  If you do not act to get this Bill passed, you will not have my support during your next election cycle.

UPDATE 102711

REPLY FROM REPRESENTATIVE  TIM PROBST:

Thank you for taking the time to send me this note.

HB 2044 was introduced in the 2011 session, and would allow electronic scratch ticket machines in nontribal gambling establishments.  It was introduced very late in the legislative session, and did not move out of the State Government & Tribal Affairs Committee.

I do not have a problem with this bill — I think that it would be perfectly fine to allow these machines in nontribal gambling establishments.  However, I do not sit on any of the committees that this bill will go through, and so I will not have a hand in the process unless and until the bill reaches the House floor.  In the event that the bill does reach the floor in 2012, I will keep your thoughts in mind as I vote.

You can track the bill’s progress here: http://apps.leg.wa.gov/billinfo/summary.aspx?bill=2044&year=2011.

Thanks again for your note; please keep in touch.  As you know, our nation is in its worst economic emergency since the Great Depression.  We all need to look out for one another during these tough economic times.  Please do whatever you can to look out for your neighbors, and please feel free to contact me anytime.

Tim

Raising taxes is inevitable but cutting services is not. Cutting services would be the best option if it wasn’t for the fact that the Fire Department and the Police Department weren’t the first to suffer. The State will always pick the most needed services first just to prove a point. What they really need to do is cut the amount of State employees. During my working career I entered a lot of commercial offices. It was usually the state or county offices that appeared to have the most dead weight employees just taking up space. As far as the Indian Casino’s, well I’m sure they are paying their fair share of taxes and revenue. And taking their customers away isn’t going to solve any thing just to have those same customers go some where else. As far as the State getting more revenue for them only means they will have more money to waste and they will never reduce whatever debt they have accumulated with any new revenue. I’m not a betting person but I would bet a million to one on that. So don’t be fooled by a politician’s lies and foolery. They are the White Tongued Devil we always read about in Early American History. As far as Governor Gregoir protecting the Indians, I would imagine he has some other nasty trick up his sleeve for them in the near future.

Don’t be too disgruntled about such a small thing as your Governor protecting the Indians. That’s the least he could do for them. Our Governor here in the Sunshine State is a full blown Communist and dis-regards the Constitution of the United States of America just like our Muslim President does. Here, see for self http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/10/10/california-gov-enacts-ban-on-open-handgun-carrying/?test=latestnews. This is serious stuff.
Also as if the State was not far enough into debt, he does this http://www.theblaze.com/stories/gov-jerry-brown-signs-california-dream-act-into-law-for-illegal-immigrants/ . Our Commander in Chief and his Communist Cronies are well on the way to destroying this country.
